Education
Dr. Niketa Thompson is a native of Mississippi. She was born in Huntsville so returning to Alabama is like coming home. Dr. Thompson completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, graduating from Oakwood University in Huntsville, AL. It was during a year of service in her undergraduate experience that she gained a love of dentistry. She traveled to Suriname, South America, to the Amazon, learning to extract teeth and other procedures benefitting natives, under the tutelage of Dr. Rick Cole of Yuba City, CA. After completing her bachelor’s degree, Dr. Thompson was admitted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Dentistry, where she obtained her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree.
Following dental school Dr. Thompson furthered her scope of practice by completing a General Practice Residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, an advanced educational training and hospital-based program focused on medically compromised patients. There she treated patients with special healthcare needs, senior citizens and became a Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program Medical Provider.
Before pursuing private practice, Dr. Thompson worked in a fast-paced corporate setting, seeing patients and managing a fully staffed office.
Personal Philosophy & Interests
It has always been Dr. Thompson’s mission to use her skills to share love for people and dentistry, and to spread her passion for promoting good oral health for all ages. She aims to create an inclusive and affirming practice, one that provides care to ALL of South Alabama.
Dr. Thompson is committed to continuously educating herself and her team on the newest dental techniques. To accomplish that, she is a member of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry and Alabama Dental Association.
In her spare time, Dr. Niketa Thompson enjoys traveling, bike riding, and exploring the world through music.
